Responding to the growing risk of wildfires triggered by global temperature rise, and anticipating the decommissioning of Joint Base Cape Cod by the U.S. military, this project proposes a fire management regime to reclaim public lands. Fire is rebranded and used to create a cultural fire spectacle, renew Cape Cod’s fire-adapted ecologies and reduce fire risk for local residents. We offer a temporal and physical methodology which could be applied on a regional scale to fire-prone environments in the Northeast and, with allowances for local vegetation, across the United States.

Fire is rebranded to create a cultural fire spectacle, renew Cape Cod’s fire-adapted ecologies and reduce fire risk for local residents.
